Full-Service Christmas Lighting for Vancouver and Clark County Homes

Red Hat Lighting is a Vancouver-based, family-run company that has been hanging Christmas lights across Clark County since 2007.

We custom-fit every strand to your home, keep it lit all season, then take it down in January and store it until next year. You get a beautifully lit house without climbing a ladder or untangling a single strand.

Every strand is commercial grade and built on site to the exact length of your rooflines, with bulbs on 12-inch spacing. Returning customers pay $4.50 a foot instead of the first-season $6.00, because their strands are already built and stored.

We install in Vancouver, Camas, Ridgefield, Battle Ground, Washougal and La Center, plus every community in between.

What's included with every installation

One price per foot covers the whole season. Here's what that gets you.

  • Your design, planned with you

Tell us the look you want and send a photo of the house. We map out where the lights go and which colors and bulbs fit it best.

  • Commercial-grade strands

Every strand is commercial grade, with retrofit LED bulbs that stay lit if one nearby burns out. Minis are available for landscaping.

  • Cut to fit your house

We measure and assemble each strand at your home, so the lights end exactly where your rooflines do.

  • Repairs all season

If something goes dark, give us a call Monday through Saturday between 7am and 5pm. The fix is included in your price.

  • Takedown in January

By the end of the second week of January, everything we put up comes back down. You never have to climb up to remove it.

  • Off-season storage

We store your strands in a bin labeled with your name and installation notes until it's time to hang them again.

The lights

Choosing your Christmas lights: C9, C7 or minis

All three are commercial grade. Pick based on the style you like and the part of the house or yard you're lighting.

Two-story home with warm white rooflines and a lit wreath on the front gable

Best for rooflines

C9 bulbs

The traditional big-bulb look. Set 12 inches apart, with retrofit LED bulbs that keep working when a neighbor bulb fails.

Lit roofline and gables on a stone-front home at night

Best for a lower profile

C7 bulbs

A smaller bulb with light output close to a C9, so the roofline looks a little sleeker.

Mini lights wrapped through trees and shrubs in a front yard

Best for trees and bushes

Mini lights

Wrap trees, bushes, porch columns and railings. Choose warm white, multicolor, red or green, or ask about other colors.

Nine colors. Any pattern.

Pick one color or combine several on your C9 and C7 strands.

Lighting Clark County homes since 2007

Founder Jesse started hanging holiday lights in 2007 as part of his landscaping business. When he sold that company, he kept the lights.

His friend Brian joined as a partner in 2010. Jesse's sister Genevieve came on in 2012 to manage the office and is now a governing partner. The company is still run by family and friends.

Questions

Christmas light installation FAQ

Don't see your question? Call us at (360) 474-7640, 7am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday.

How much does Christmas light installation cost?

We charge $6.00 per linear foot the first season, which covers custom fitting and light rental, and $4.50 per foot every season after. Mini lights for trees and bushes are $2.25 per foot. Most homes need 100 to 200 feet for the front rooflines and gutters. Maintenance, takedown and storage are included.

What areas do you serve?

All of Clark County, including Vancouver, Camas, Ridgefield, Battle Ground, Washougal and La Center. We're based in Vancouver and take jobs anywhere in the county.

When should I book my installation?

As early as you can. We begin installing in early October and spots go fast. Once they're up, you decide when to switch them on.

How do I get an estimate?

Start with a photo and your address. For homes visible online, a phone call usually covers it. The final bill reflects the actual footage installed.

Can you hang my own lights?

Generally no. New customers get our commercial-grade, custom-fit C9, C7 and mini lights. If another company built you commercial-grade custom strands, we may install them after inspecting them.

What kind of lights do you use?

We use custom C9 and C7 strands on 12-inch spacing with retrofit LEDs that keep shining if a bulb goes out, plus minis for landscaping, columns and railings.

What colors can I choose?

Nine colors for C9 and C7 bulbs (warm white, red, green, blue, teal, orange, yellow, pink and purple) in any pattern. Minis come in warm white, multicolor, red or green, or other colors by request.

What happens if a bulb or strand goes out?

We fix it at no charge. All maintenance during the season is included in the installation price.

When do you take the lights down?

By mid-January. We take down the full display by the end of the second week and keep your lights stored until next season.

Do I get to keep the lights?

Most customers rent. That's what makes storage, maintenance and yearly reinstalls possible. Purchases are limited to previous customers due to inventory.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are. We're a licensed Washington LLC, insured for up to $1 million for any incident that harms you or your property.

Do you offer any discounts?

We do. Veterans and seniors receive a 10% discount.
